BIGGE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES RIGGING AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR INSTALLATION OF NUCLEAR REACTOR VESSEL CLOSURE HEADS AT THREE (3) EAST COAST POWER PLANTS

SAN LEANDRO, Calif., November 14, 2003- Bigge Power Constructors, a Division of the Bigge Group, successfully completed the design, fabrication and operation of rigging and transportation systems used to replace Reactor Vessel Closure Heads (RVCH) for Framatome ANP at Crystal River Nuclear Power Station in Crystal River, Florida, Ginna Station in Ontario, New York and Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Station in Middletown, Pennsylvania. 

“Each presented unique engineering and scheduling challenges with very tight tolerances,” said James O’Callaghan, Manager of Bigge Power Constructors.  O’Callaghan further explained, “I am pleased with the Bigge engineering and project management teams who worked closely with the customer to address the specific conditions of each project site and successfully completed each scope of work in a safe and efficient manner.”  

One of the greatest challenges was faced on the Crystal River project which entailed installing the RVCH with the entire service structure attached.  “We selected subcontractors who understand the importance of careful planning and attention to detail on projects of this magnitude,” said Mike Carpenter, Framatome ANP Manager of Component Replacements. “The Bigge team certainly contributed to the successful completion of this challenging project for our customer.”
