Since 1916, The Leader in Crane Sales & Heavy Rigging
for Industrial, Commercial and Governmental Applications
SAN LEANDRO, Calif., March 5, 2004- Bigge Crane and Rigging Co., a Division of the Bigge Group, is supporting contractors with crane and rigging services on the new span of the San Francisco Bay Bridge project, but it’s not the first time.
For more than 7 decades, Bigge has been committed to providing rigging and transportation services “behind the scenes” on civil infrastructure projects around the San Francisco Bay.
Recently, Bigge successfully set a 400,000 girder at the Port of Stockton for Kiewitt/FCI/Mason. The girder is part of a gantry system used to offload new sections of the San Francisco Bay Bridge.
Bigge was also recently awarded a 6 month project for the erection of fifteen (15) tower cranes that run alongside the east span of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. These tower cranes will be used by Kiewitt/FCI/Manson to erect bridge towers over the next two years.
Bigge has provided rigging and transportation services on bridges and other Civil Infrastructure projects since the early part of the 20th century. “We are particularly proud of the part we have played over the years on Bay Area bridge projects such as the Golden Gate Bridge construction,” said Brock Settlemier. Between 1933 and 1937, Bigge provided key rigging and transportation services on the Golden Gate Bridge project.
The Bigge Group is a leading provider of heavy lifting and transportation equipment and project services to the nuclear industry. Bigge’s project services provide innovative rigging and transportation solutions for industrial, commercial and government applications. Bigge designs, builds and operates systems for hoisting and transporting heavy lift and over-dimensional items.
