Position Description:

As a drafter here at Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. you will provide builders, designers, planners and / or vendors with highly detailed construction drawings. Drawings which will drive precision execution of our heavy lift and move projects, thus enabling the company to achieve its production and profit objectives.

The following list of duties and responsibilities reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produces accurate construction drawings (AUTOCAD) that communicate to the builders, designers, planners, and /or vendors in a manner that eliminates the opportunity for error; produces drawings from verbal instructions and field data
  • Ensures the soundness of the structural drawings including but not limited to the wall framing, roof, and floor trusses
  • Produces 3D renderings
  • Creates detailed drawings according to company’s plan standards
  • Revises construction drawings in a timely manner per approved plan change requests
  • Searches out ways of reducing construction costs and adding value
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of industry and developing technology
  • Assists with related special projects as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent with two to four years related experience
  • Familiarity with construction standards and terminology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Ability to direct and recommend cost-effective creative solutions
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance
