Position Description:

PURCHASING MANAGER needed to work with various departments at Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. to deliver professional, ethical purchasing services.

As our Purchasing Manager you will provide purchasing and estimating support to the proposal managers and project managers. You will communicate with internal departments and suppliers to resolve technical and quality problems. As our Purchasing Manager you will manage purchasing of consumables for all Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. locations throughout the United States this will include management of direct reports.

In addition to developing and maintaining a standard purchasing and estimating work process, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of company standards for procurement; contract management and inventory control.

As our successful candidate you will possess strong planning, organizational and time management skills. You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and the use of inventory programs.

You will need the ability to work under pressure and as the successful candidate will possess strong planning, organizational and time management skills.

In this position you will:

  • Have the ability to analyze potential and current supplier operations to improve performance for lead-time reduction and price optimization
  • Develop and position strategic purchasing practices for company initiatives including major projects, capital activities and the development of local and regional contracts
  • Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of procurement fundamentals
  • Technical strategic procurement skills that include the ability to decipher specifications and key product attributes
  • Evaluate various inventory control systems; make recommendations and bring on-line the inventory system/program selected

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated negotiating skills and a commitment to continuous improvement and Total Quality
  • Requires computer purchasing program(s) experience i.e. Timberline and a familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including "Windows" operating systems; MS Word and Excel spreadsheet functions and Internet use
  • Familiarity with standard construction systems and design preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in purchasing/supply chain/business or a technical field preferred
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Position requires a minimum of 5 – 7 years related experience as a Purchasing Manager with increasing responsibilities
  • Prefer experience in:
    • A. Mobile cranes; trucks, crawlers, all and rough terrain
    • B. Heavy lift and transportation
  • Experience with purchasing components and parts for construction equipment; diesel engines; hydraulics and/or our equipment
  • Assist in establishing valid delivery dates and assuring compliance
  • Supervise and analyze stock levels; create a system to forecasts; other available information, in order to achieve the promised delivery dates and inventory levels according to plan
  • Verify price stability through the Purchase Order process
  • Implement inventory control processes
