Position Description:

In this very critical sales position you will identify, evaluate and recommend prospective new work in the CR&T industry including strategic market development and penetration. You will develop strategy and prepare proposals and presentations to win new business opportunities.

You will also coordinate with other departments in formulating strategy; will lead proposal preparation and negotiations with customers. This is to ensure Bigge business objectives are met.

One of your most important considerations is to establish and maintain customer and strategic teaming partner relationships.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guide and actively participate in planning the business development and capture strategy for the Major Projects group
  • Keep aware of the business development activity and strategy of competitors, including their pricing trends and approaches
  • Follow-up on bids won and lost to determine the reason(s) Bigge was or was not selected
  • Manage productions activities including proposals, qualification documents, presentations and other sales/marketing materials
  • Coordinates the internal prospect review and screening process
  • Collaborates with management team on strategic plans; prospect analyses and bid/no bid decisions
  • Interfaces with other functional departments to help align marketing and business development efforts with operations; provide advance notice of potential resource requirements, etc.
  • For a specific prospect, researches customer and competition; develops alternate bid strategies; recommends teaming requirements; develops and implements win-plan recommendations and prepares and manages proposal budgets
  • Performs various calculations and estimating activities to help analyze the financial background of targeted prospects
  • Develops and maintains industry association and tracks competitor activities and business trends
  • Directs departmental efforts and activities in maintaining and improving relationships with customers and building relationships with prospective customers
  • Maintains databases for use in developing proposals and other marketing materials; website and electronic archive
  • Recommends improvements to processes, procedures and standards for preparing, producing and tracking marketing documents and presentations
  • Performs special assignments related to business development, sales and proposal activities

Job-Related Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive experience in sales and knowledge of engineering and construction industry markets and customer desired
  • Prior related work experience with customers from commercial, government and industrial markets desired; including power generation and petroleum and refinery sectors; specific exposure to heavy lift and heavy transport arena is a plus
  • Knowledge in preparation of capture plans; pre-positioning, target, pursuit and capture of strategic target
  • Skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers
  • Experience in developing qualification documents, contracts and proposal
  • Knowledge and experience with cost basis estimating
  • Knowledge and experience with general contracting management, claim management and contract negotiations
  • Knowledge of health and safety (OSHA)
