Terex Challenger 3180 Crane Overview and Specifications

The Terex Challenger 3180 is a 65 ton all terrain crane. The maximum boom length is 164 feet, and the maximum jib length is 52 feet.

A 326 Mercedes Tier 4 compliant engine can easily able to handle anything you throw at it, and makes the Challenger 3180 one of the most powerful cranes in its class. The boom is a single cylinder telescoping system, with the ability to automatically telescope. The three sheaves included on the boom allow for the capacity of the crane to be increased, making lifts easy.

The maneuverability of the 3180 is unparalleled. The transmission system is a ZF AS-Tronic Mid automatic gearbox with 12 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds. The amount of control that is given to the operator because of the different speeds can limit the amount of safety hazards, and make the job site safer.

The brake system includes a pneumatic dual circuit service brake with an antilock system acting on all wheels, disc brakes, additional exhaust brake and constant throttle valve, and a spring loaded parking brake, helping the operator to have even more control while mobile, limiting safety hazards. The suspension system is created to allow for smooth travel while the crane is mobile, which makes the operator more comfortable.

The cab of the crane also makes the operator comfortable, and safe. The cab includes an air conditioning system and a radio to keep the operator comfortable. The safety glass installed keeps the operator safe, and allows for the operator to focus on the job.
