Terex Explorer 5800 Crane Overview and Specifications

The Terex Explorer, one of Terex’s newer models, is an all-terrain crane with 245 U.S. ton capacity. It has a 5 part single-cylinder hydraulic telescoping boom, with a maximum length of 229 feet. 5 sheaves integrated in boom head for max. capacity of 208,200 . It comes with two jib extensions, of 37 and 69 feet, making the maximum tip height 296 feet.

The Terex Explorer 5800 is outfitted with a Scania DC13; Diesel engine; 405 kW (550 ) at 1900 , torque 2380 Nm at 1300 . The engine is Tier IV compliant with EUROMOT 4/​Tier 4F. Transmission is ZF AS-Tronic; automated gearbox with integrated hydraulic retarder, 12 forward speeds and 2 reverse with a 2‑stage transfer case and switchable off-road gear. Five axles, 10 x 6 x 10. Dual-circuit steering system with independent rear axle steering; Axles 1, 2, 3 mechanically connected; Axles 4 and 5 electro-hydraulically connected, all axles steered with 6 different steering programs. Standard is counterweight 113,800 and an automatic rigging system; expandable to 154,800 . 4 outrigger bases: 9 ft, 18.2 ft, 23 ft, 27.6 ft, manual or automatically leveling with an H‑4 design are also standard equipment.
