Demag CC 8800-1 Twin Crane Overview and Specifications

The Demag CC8800‑1 Twin is behemoth of a crawler crane with a lifting capacity of of 2903 metric tons (3200 U.S. tons). The max distance the main boom and luffing jib is up to 117m (384 ft.). This Demag crane comes equipped with 4 hoist winches, a boom derrick with 2 winches, a boom hoist, a luffing jib with 2 winches, and a slewing mechanism. All rope drums have hydraulically released multi-disc and non-wearing hydraulic braking for load lowering. Rope ends of all drums are provided with quick connect rope end fittings. The booms and jibs can be combined to create three different working configurations.

The Demag CC8800‑1 Twin comes equipped with a MTU diesel engine type OM 502 LA that powers 516. The pump distribution is a five variable displacement axial piston pumps and gear pumps. The crawler carrier consists of a center pot with two cross beams, two longitudinal beams and two crawler side frames with tracks, all parts are pin connected hydraulically to each other. The superstructure is made of torsion-resistant welded structure fabricated from high strength fine grain structural steel. The crawlers for the crane are each driven by two hydraulic motors. Each crawler provides independent, infinitely variable control and counter rotation capability. The skew unit uses four planetary gear units powered by hydraulic motor mounted in the car body.

The cabin has a laminated front window and roof windows. The front console includes instrumentation and crane controls as well as two screens. Camera systems are included to monitor the machine. The CC8800‑1 Twin has a Terex IC‑1 control system has built in safety features, such as a load moment indicator integrated, hoist limit switch, limit switches for boom movements, hydraulic boom backstop, position light, and an anemometer.
