Terex Explorer 5600 Crane Overview and Specifications

The Terex Explorer 5600 is an all-terrain crane with a maximum lift capacity of 180 tons. The maximum boom length is 223 feet and the maximum jib length is 108 feet.There are four sheaves integrated into the boom that give the crane the ability to lift even heavier objects.

The Explorer 5600 is powered by a 550 horsepower Scania DC13 Tier IV complaint diesel engine, which gives it the power to complete any job. While power is important, the Explorer 5600 doesn’t compromise on its mobility. The suspension system consists of a hydropneumatic suspension with axle load compensation. It is hydraulically lockable, and has maintenance free suspension cylinders with a position measuring system and an axle load display in the carrier cab. This system allows for smooth movements, and allows for the operator to know how the crane is operating.

The brake system is comprised of multiple brakes, giving the operator the ability to stop at a moment’s notice, limiting safety hazards. The steering is a dual-circuit steering system with independent rear axle steering. All of the axles are steered with 6 different steering programs, so that if one program fails others can take over and allow the operator to safely navigate away from the jobsite and any potentially hazardous materials.

The cab includes features to make any operator safe and happy. Tinted safety glass windows keep sunlight and debris out of the cab, to limit the amount of distractions for the operator. Air conditioning and heating are included to make the operator comfortable.
