Soon after the successful delivery of the second tub section, Bigge Crane & Rigging Company lifted the 1800 ton orthotropic deck section, marking the symbolic completion of the Skyway portion of the new San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Project.
On a sunny September day, Bigge crews placed the tub section into position below two cantilevered girders suspended from the bridge and a crossing girder mounted atop two towers.
With Bigge's sophisticated Hydropsex Strand Jacking System, our crews lifted the 90' wide x 200' long, 1800 ton section into place, meeting the exacting requirements specified on this extremely critical job.
