Bigge Helps Build Billion Dollar Energy Plant

Bigge performed numerous heavy lifting tasks as part of the construction of the one billion dollar Inland Empire Energy Center, in Romoland, Ca. First, Bigge engineered a custom rigging solution for placing the plant’s centerline equipment and erecting the plant’s heat recovery steam generators (HRSG’s).

Bigge designed and implemented a custom strand jack based gantry system to lift and set two turbines and a 350 ton plus turbine generator. We successfully lifted the generator from its platform trailer by strand jacks, lifted it by hydraulic gantry, traversed it on the 230’ long rail system over the previously placed generator, and set it, all within 7 hours.

Bigge also transported all of the HRSG’s along with forty other modules ranging from 150 to 400 tons from the Port of Long Beach, a 100 mile trek, via Beam and Dolly transporters, and provided all the heavy lift cranes on the project.
