At the Thomas Hill Power Plant in Missouri, Bigge Crane & Rigging Co. was called to solve a serious problem. The power plant's coal fired generator was running poorly and Bigge was called to conduct an emergency replacement.
In a very short time span, Bigge shipped a replacement generator, via rail, from Victoria, Texas to Thomas Hill. Utilizing a 170' elevated runway system and a chain jack lift system, Bigge hoisted the failing, 250 ton generator out and set the replacement unit. Once the permanent generator was rebuilt, Bigge remobolized to set the newly refurbished unit into place and return the temporary generator to storage in Texas.
With operations in California, Washington, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, Bigge was able to call on its resources of transcontinental offices to quickly respond to our client's requirement. With world class engineering and tools, Bigge crews were able to mobilize from around the country to solve a tough transportation and lifting requirement and keep our customer operating.
