Nuclear Steam Generator Replacement
Bigge Power Constructors, performed nuclear steam system decommissioning work involving heavy lift and heavy transportation at the Rancho Seco Nuclear Plant. Bigge had to engineer a lift of two 560-ton steam generators for segmentation into halves, as well as remove the existing halves from containment. Bigge then had to transport the almost 600 ton generators into storage.
In all, Bigge lifted, set and installed two steam generators weighing a total of over 1100 tons. Bigge also managed all site and general engineering personnel.
