Bigge serves nuclear, fossil-fueled and alternate energy generating plants, both utility-owned and those developed by independent power producers. Bigge provides engineered solutions and custom-designed, state-of-the-art equipment for heavy transportation and heavy rigging. These scopes include transporting and setting turbines, generators and transformers; constructing heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) of combined cycle plants, steam drums and duct work. Bigge also provides crane and engineering support for erecting wind turbines.
Bigge Power Constructors, a subsidiary of Bigge Crane and Rigging Co., specializes in serving the heavy lift and transportation needs of the nuclear power industry. Since 1959, when Bigge provided services for one of the nation’s first nuclear power facilities at PG&E’s Humboldt Bay Power Plant in California, Bigge has pioneered, planned, engineered and fabricated specialized equipment to meet the unique construction, maintenance, refurbishment or decommissioning needs at dozens of nuclear power plants throughout the United States. Most recently, Bigge has performed 85% of the reactor vessel head replacements at U.S. nuclear units, making Bigge the leader in the use of innovative rigging solutions for regular outage component replacements. Bigge has removed entire reactor vessels, replaced steam generators, replaced generator stators, moved fuel casks, and is now actively engaged in assessing the marine and land heavy lift requirements and transportation needs of the next generation of nuclear power plants.

Bigge can supply bare rented or operated cranes for HRSG erection.
