Scope:
Bigge Power Constructors, as subcontractor to Duratek, performs the following nuclear power plant decommissioning work involving heavy lift and heavy transportation.
- Mange the engineering, procurement and construction effort including detail analysis, diamond wire saw cutting of concrete obstacles, removal of the reactor vessel and transportation
- Manage the Engineering effort including a 50.59 analysis by Bigge subcontractor, ARES
- Engineer unique solutions for lifts in compliance with 50.59 and NUREG 0612
- Mange the cutting of an RV removal path through the Bio Shield Wall and Reactor Building Shell by subcontractor Bluegrass Bit Co.
- Fabricate, furnish, install and operate gantries, lifting devices, and transportation equipment
- Remove the Reactor Vessel from the Reactor Building
- Lower the RV to a Duratek transportation canister and seal weld
- Downend the canister/ RV to transport and trans-load to a rail car for travel to Barnwell

- Engineering unique solution for lifting in compliance with applicable regulations for spent fuel still resident in close proximity to the Reactor Vessel
- Managing the regulatory required engineering analysis
- Handling the RV of 200 tons through a complicated evolution of lifting steps
