Scope:
Bigge Power Constructors, as subcontractor to Burns & Roe, performed the following nuclear power plant decommissioning work involving heavy lift and heavy transportation.
- Engineered solutions for the vent stack removal
- Supplied a 450 ton capacity crane to remove stack sections
- Engineered “fall path” solutions for nuclear project safety requirements
- Removed and transported stack section to decontamination area
Job Challenges:
Bigge Constructors will successfully deal with the following challenges on this project.
- Rigging and lifting vent stack sections 300’ above grade and located
- Providing engineered fall path protection for the Containment structure and spent Fuel Pool
- Addressed seismic and ground bearing issues related to the location of the 450 ton crane
