Scope:
Bigge as subcontractor to Westinghouse performed the following nuclear power plant steam system new plant construction work involving heavy lift and heavy transportation. Bigge handled the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV), Steam Generators (SG) and Pressurizer.
- Engineered unique solutions to the lifts and transportation
- Lifted the RPV and set on barge in Long Beach harbor
- Barged RPV to Del Mar boat basin and offloaded
- Trans-loaded the RPV to a 16 dolly Bigge vehicle for land travel
- Transportation the RPV on Highway 101 to the SONGS site

- Handling of the RPV (350 tons), the RPV Head (110 tons), three SGs (300 tons), and the Pressurizer
- Engineering unique solution for the transportation of the components
