Scope:
Bigge Power Constructors, as subcontractor to APS, will perform the following nuclear reactor vessel head (RVH) replacement work involving heavy lift and heavy transportation.
- Engineer and fabricate lifting devices to lift and rotate the RV heads while holding the CRDM’s
- Engineer and install a specialized Bigge elevated, through-hatch runway system needed to handle the RV heads to the elevated Containment equipment hatch
- Install Bigge’s specialized cantilever RV head handling system which copes with tight hatch clearances and interior floors lacking load bearing capacity
- Transport RVH /CRDM assembly on platform trailers
- Remove the existing RV head from Containment
- Move into Containment, rotate, lift and set the new RV head assembly
