Tadano GR-550XL Crane Overview and Specifications

The Tadano GR-550XLis a rough terrain crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 55 tons. It has a maximum boom length of 113.9 feet and a maximum jib length of 50 feet.

The boom of the GR-550XLhas four fully powered sections that extend synchronically. A telescope cylinder, two extension cables, and a retraction cable make up the synchronization system. Four sheaves reinforce and strengthen the boom head to allow for heavier and more secure loads. The lattice jib is bifold and has a single sheave. Storage is found on the side of the base of the boom and is assisted by cylinders controlled on the right side of the superstructure. The four beam and jack style outriggers have a maximum extension of 22 feet and 11 and 5/8 inches and a minimum extension of 9 feet and 9 and 3/8 inches.

Powering the GR-550XL is a Cummins QSB6.7. The EPA Tier IV compliant engine has 6 cylinders and a gas tank of 79.2 gallons and is a direct injection diesel engine. The transmission system is fully automatic and has 6 forward and 2 backward speeds. The suspension system has hydraulic lockout devices and semi-elliptical leaf springs on both the front and back axles. The steering system is hydraulically powered and has three steering modes, 2‑wheel front, 4‑wheel coordinated, and 4‑wheel crab.
