Bigge Cranes Help Build Chemical Plant

Cranes at Work |

This year, Bigge has been aiding in the construction of a chemical plant in Channel View, Texas. Bigge currently has a Terex HC275 Crawler Crane, two Mantis 9010 tele-crawlers, four Tadano GR1000XXL’s and a Terex RT555 Rough Terrain Crane. The cranes will be on rent for six to eight months picking and setting 10 bullet tank sets. Bullet tanks are used for chemical storage and can weigh up to 122,000 lbs. During placement, the tanks will need to be lifted up 112’ at an 80-degree boom angle. In addition to tanks, the cranes will be hanging steel, piping and offloading trucks. Some of the challenges of this jobsite include muddy terrain, and inconsistent weather. Due to frequent rain, the ground has been extremely muddy, delaying the work, since construction and heavy lifting require a stable base. The plant is expected to be completed in early 2018.
