The Grove RT880E- An 80-Ton Rough Terrain Crane Built for Power
Dec 11 2017
It is a great time to be in the construction industry. Crane companies try to optimize their fleet by making stronger, and safer use of their cranes which simultaneously allows them to reduce costs and increase safety on jobsites. The Grove RT880E is Manitowoc’s go to 80-ton rough terrain crane because of its power, safety, and ability to minimize costs.
The boom of the RT880E is a 128 foot four sectioned boom. This boom is fully powered and was designed by MEGAFORM in their signature U shaped design. The U-shaped design eliminates the need for stiffeners, reducing weight and in turn increasing capacity. The max tip height of the RT880E can be increased to 192 feet by a 56-foot lattice swingaway jib. Powering the RT880E is a 275HP Cummins diesel Engine, 4-wheel drive with 4-wheel steering giving the RT880E increased maneuverability.
The cab of the RT880E is equipped with a suspension seat and ergonomically controlled cranes. The full vision cab tilts 20 degrees to allow for an increased view of the jobsite. Being able to see the jobsite better and keeping the operator comfortable put the operator at ease and allow for fewer mistakes.
To wrap up, the Grove RT880E is an excellent machine because of its:
- 192-foot maximum tip height
- 275HP Cummins engine
- 4-wheel drive and steer
