On Friday, August 4th, the San Leandro Police Department hosted 27 teams for their K‑9 Trials held at San Leandro High School. Friday’s activities focused on the narcotic detection phase of the competition. Teams traveled from as far as Truckee, Placer County, and San Joaquin County, vying for top honors with several local teams. The next day, 24 squads were welcomed to the San Leandro Ballpark for the patrol phase competition. Teams from Sacramento County and Yuba City, along with several local teams took part in the day’s activities.

Bigge donated and made available sunscreen and Chapstick for participants and to those in attendance. Bigge also contributed with a monetary donation and a raffle prize of corn hole boards, helping raise money for the Associations retired canines’ medical expenses. By supporting our local K‑9 unit (SLPDK9A), we are contributing to additional training and equipment for the organization. The SLPDK9A organizers were thankful for our donations and as a result, the 2017 San Leandro Police K‑9 Trials were a huge success!
