Bigge's Major Projects Group recently received, barged and offloaded a set of three large Hydrocracker Reactors to temporary storage for a major Northern California refinery. The reactors are used in the processing of crude oil and averaged 100 feet long and with a maximum weight of 615 tons.
The vessels were transported over the bridge using 14 lines of three-file self-propelled hydraulic platform trailers.
Bigge crews were challenged to offload the reactors during the early morning, at high tide, to minimize the ramp's slope between land and barge elevations.
The entire process, which included loading the reactors onto Bigge's barge from the jumbo ship, was all engineered, managed, furnished and operated by Bigge crews.
