Bigge’s Major Projects Division is one of the most diversified and experienced heavy lift and transportation companies in the world. Founded as a drayage company in 1916, Bigge began applying its talent on world class projects during the early historical developments of the 20th century, such as hauling massive girders for the construction of the Golden Gate and San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridges and much of the western United States infrastructure.
Over the years, the company revolutionalized the entire specialized carrier and rigging industry by introducing many significant developments in engineering and innovative methodologies for transportation and rigging applications. In the early 1950’s, Bigge specially adapted its services for the nuclear power plant construction industry across North America. The success of that work encouraged international expansion all over the world.
Today, Bigge continues to deliver solutions and demonstrate our capabilities in the upgrading and growth of coal fired and natural gas power plants across the country, and is preparing for the pending next generation of nuclear power plants.
