Founded in 1916 by Henry W. Bigge as Bigge Drayage Company, we’ve always believed we can best serve our customers by offering hands-on services coupled with our own fleet of cranes, heavy lift and heavy transportation equipment.
Today, Bigge owns and expertly maintains a fleet of both new and used cranes for bare lease, owner operated and maintained rental, and national and international purchase. Our customers have access to dedicated project managers, experienced engineers, factory-trained technicians, and knowledgeable field support.
Since 2000, Weston Settlemier has served as Bigge’s president, representing the fourth generation to manage this privately held, family-owned firm.
Throughout our history, Bigge has been richly involved in the development of California:
- Hauled steel for the building of the Golden Gate Bridge
- Transported Liberty ship sections during World War II
- Contributed to the erection of fossil and nuclear power stations, as well as every refinery in Northern California
- Assisted in recovery efforts in the aftermath of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area
