100 Years of the Bigge Advantage
For 100 years, Bigge has been one of America’s premier global crane sales, crane rental, and project services companies. Our innovative specialized project teams have also provided heavy lift, heavy rigging, specialized transportation equipment, and innovative engineering solutions for some of the most challenging projects across the US. Bigge currently owns and maintains the largest inventory of new and used cranes for sale in the country.
Since 1916, Bigge has been serving the commercial, government, and industrial markets—including the power generation and petroleum refinery sectors.
One hundred years in the business and a commitment to safety and the success of our customers has helped make Bigge an industry leader. Safety is our most important One Bigge Core Value—and it shows in the numbers:

Where We’re Located
Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area in San Leandro, California, Bigge operates a strategic network of 15 other service locations nationwide that allow us to provide logistical and field support throughout the United States.
Founded in 1916 by Henry W. Bigge as Bigge Drayage Company, we’ve always believed we can best serve our customers by offering hands-on services coupled with our own fleet of cranes, heavy lift and heavy transportation equipment.
Today, Bigge owns and expertly maintains a fleet of both new and used cranes for bare lease, owner operated and maintained rental, and national and international purchase. Our customers have access to dedicated project managers, experienced engineers, factor-trained technicians, and knowledgeable field support.
Since 2000, Weston Settlemier has served as Bigge’s president, representing the fourth generation to manage this privately held, family-owned firm.
Throughout our history, Bigge has been richly involved in the development of California:
- Hauled steel for the building of the Golden Gate Bridge
- Transported Liberty ship sections during World War II
- Contributed to the erection of fossil and nuclear power stations, as well as every refinery in Northern California
- Assisted in recovery efforts in the aftermath of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area
