Link-Belt 138 HSL Crane Overview and Specifications

The Link-Belt 138 HSL is a crawler crane with a maximum lift capacity of 80 tons. The maximum boom height is 200 feet and the maximum jib height is 60 feet.

The upper structure engine is a Cummins QSB6.7. This Tier IV complaint engine has six cylinders, full pressure lubrication, and is rated at 270 horsepower. The hydraulic system is composed of an array of fixed and variable displacement pumps powering the drums, swing motor, and counterweight self-assembly system. The hydraulic remote control system and tagline winch are also powered by fixed displacement gear pumps.

The team at Link-Belt included an option for the hydraulic system called pump control mode. When operating in pump control mode the load hoist drums, boom hoist drum, and the travel act very slowly. This slow movement allows for an operator to conduct lifts or other operations of the crane exactly to the specifications required of the jobsite. The operator cab is full of features to keep an operator safe and comfortable. Some of the safety features include a rated capacity limiter and a rearview camera. The upper structure and lower structure frames are made of all welded steel. The side frames, also made of welded steel, can be hydraulically moved by a cylinder mounted in the lower frame.
