The Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1 is an all-terrain crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 550 tons. The maximum boom length is 279 feet and the maximum jib length is 276 feet.

The frame of the LTM 1450-8.1 comes in two parts. The carrier section is torsion resistant and made of high tensile fine grained structural steel. The superstructure section of the frame is torsionally rigid steel and connected to the carrier section by a triple roller slewing rim. The outrigger system consists of four hydraulically telescoping outriggers. The system has automatic leveling and an electronic inclination display.

The automatic transmission system comes standard with a torque converter and an intarder. The 12 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds give more control to the operator. The 8-cylinder Liebherr carrier engine is water cooled and rated at 687 horsepower. A Niveau-matik suspension system comes standard and is hydraulically lockable. The brake system consists of a service brake, an all-wheel servo air brake, disc brakes acting on all wheels, an exhaust flap brake, and a spring-loaded hand brake acting on all wheels.

The steering system runs on two circuits and is fully hydraulic. The boom of the LTM 1450-8.1 has seven sections, one base section and seven telescoping. The telescoping sections are extendable individually by a rapid Telematic telescoping system. The hoist system is powered by an axial piston variable displacement motor and consists of a hoist drum with a built in planetary gear and a spring loaded static brake.
