Grove GMK5180-1 Crane Overview and Specifications

The Grove GMK5180-1 is an all-terrain crane with a maximum lift capacity of 210 tons. It has a maximum boom length of 210 feet and a maximum jib length of 59 feet.

The boom of the GMK5180-1 is a six section single cylinder boom with a TWIN-LOCK system. The TWIN-LOCK system ensures that locks can hold in situations with extreme vibration or dynamic loads, making it the perfect system for a crane on the jobsite. The four beam outriggers come standard with an electronic level indicator and automatic leveling system to allow for safe and efficient lifting.

Powering the GMK5180-1 is a Tier IV compliant Mercedes Benz OM471LA, diesel, 6 cylinder, water cooled, turbo charged, 532 horsepower powerhouse. Easily able to complete any job, the engine is a perfect fit for the GMK518-1. The Transmission system, a G280 also made by Mercedes, has 16 forward and 2 reverse gears with VIAB turbo retarder coupling. The standard VIAB takes up less weight and space than a turbo coupling and a retarder would separately, giving more room for other features. The VIAB enables wear-free starting and breaking, reduces fuel consumption, and stops overheating. By reducing fuel consumption, the VIAB saves money on fuel and time fueling.

The counterweight slabs and self-rigging auxiliary hoist of the GMK5180-1 allow for less time wasted on the jobsite. The crane can be moved while carrying its full 50 ton counterweight, saving the time of installing and removing counterweight. The self-rigging auxiliary hoist ends the need for an assist crane on the job site, saving time and money.
