Bigge Purchases U.S. Alimak Operation

Press Releases |

Alimak Group, the global vertical access solution company, announces that it has entered into an agreement to divest its US Rental business with base in Atlanta, USA, to Bigge Crane and Rigging.

Bigge is excited to continue expanding our Tower Crane & Hoist offerings to our customers throughout the U.S. Since 2013, Bigge has more than doubled its hoists for rent and sale to more than 100.

Bigge has the Alimak SCANDO 650 and 450 single-car and dual-car hoists available for sale and rental. These hoists are flexible, durable and accessible. The new generation designs are easy to operate and offer safety, reliability and flexibility for passengers and materials on your job site.

Alimak Group operates a rental business in the US, whose origins predate the merger between Alimak and Hek in 1999. The US Rental business has been operated as a separate unit, while its US parent company has been focusing on product sales and after sales supporting the entire product portfolio in the US and Canada.

Bigge is excited to integrate Alimak’s US Rental business to our growing construction hoist operation. Bigge has an extensive network of locations and expertise in rental of construction hoist and related equipment, and this addition is consistent and synergistic with our core business. Bigge has had a long term strategic partnership with Alimak, and Alimak’s product is central to Bigge’s existing fleet of construction hoist and related equipment,” says Weston Settlemier, CEO of Bigge Crane and Rigging Co.

The divestment is a logical step in Alimak Group´s strategy of growth in its core business as it allows our US operation to fully focus on further expanding our broad offering of products and aftersales services in North America. Bigge is one of America´s premier global crane companies and since long, a valuable customer to Alimak. They have a vast experience of working with Alimak equipment and I feel confident that our existing rental customers will see benefits from having a new owner” says Tormod Gunleiksrud, CEO of Alimak Group.

With one of the largest, most diverse crane and hoist fleets in the U.S. and an industry-leading safety record, Bigge provides expert turnkey services with engineered project support from start to finish. Currently ranked #2 on the American Cranes & Transport Tower Crane 50 list with one of the highest lifting capacity fleets in North America, Bigge owns and maintains a growing fleet of over 100 tower cranes, including all the top brands and latest models.

Alimak Group´s Rental business area provides rental services on Alimak´s construction hoists and platforms to customers in four key markets: France, Benelux, Germany and Australia as well as offers sales of Alimak´s used construction equipment.

The divestment will be subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close before year end 2016.
