Terex Superlift 3800 Crane Overview and Specifications

The Terex Superlift 3800 is a massive crawler crane with a lift capacity of 650 metric tons (715 U.S. tons). It is equipped with a 3‑section carrier, carbody and two crawlers. It uses hydraulic pins to connect between crawlers and the carbody to provide for easy assembly and removal. The boom utilizes Torsion-resistant welded structure fabricated of high-strength fine grain structural steel to guarantee powerful lifting vehicle safety. It features two different booms, a main boom and stepped main boom.

The crawler is equipped with a standard operating mode or superlift operating mode. The length of the main boom is 96m (315 ft.) during standard and in superlift mode it’s 107m (354 ft.). The stepped main boom extends to 1013m (374 ft.) in standard mode and in superlift mode it reaches out to 143m (472 ft.). This Terex crawler uses three jibs, the fixed fly jib extends to 17m (59 ft.) and the light fixed fly jib is 35m (118 ft.) long. The luffing jib reaches out 96m (315 ft.).

The Superlift 3800 features a water-cooled 8‑cylinder MTU diesel engine type OM 502 LA, 405 kW (550 ) at 1800 and a fuel tank that holds 317 lons. Sound insulation ensures minimal noise, high efficiency, and long product life. The standard superstructure equipment includes three rope drums – hoist 1, 2 and boom hoist. The drums are powered by hydraulic motors. All winches are removable to minimize weight for transportation.

The crane is controlled by joystick levers ergonomically positioned in the crane cab. The Superlift 3800 can also be controlled using a wireless rigging remote control. The crawler control system has built in safety features, such as a load moment indicator integrated in IC‑1 control, hoist limit switch, limit switches for boom movements, hydraulic boom backstop, and anemometer.
