The MLC650 is Manitowoc’s flagship crawler crane. It has a lifting capacity of 650 metric tons (716 US tons) with a boom length of 103m (341 ft.). When equipped with the VPC-MAX, this crane has a capacity of 1543.2 kips which converts to 771.6 us tons.

The boom utilizes Manitowoc’s exclusive FACT™ connection system boom connector. This Manitowoc crawler uses two jibs, a fixed jib that extends to 138ft. It also comes standard with a luffing jib that reaches 331 ft. Both the boom and jibs have optional additional adjustable sections.

The MLC650 also features a counterweight system that automatically positions the crane’s counterweight as required to match lifting demands; eliminating the need for carbody counterweight. The MLC650 features a high-power Cummins Model QSX15 Tier 4 Final diesel, 600 B at 1800 , with 295 gallon fuel tank, with level indicator in operator’s cab. Multiple hydraulic pump drive transmission provides power for all machine functions. Each function is equipped with relief valves to protect the hydraulic circuit from overload or shock. This Manitowoc crawler comes with two drums, a main hoist drum located in the boom butt and a whip drum mounted on the rotating bed. Each drum is driven by a variable-displacement hydraulic motor through a planetary reduction system.

The Vision Cab™ is a fully enclosed and insulated vanized steel fabricated module mounted to the left front corner of rotating bed. The Crane Control System offers a user-friendly interface, with two full graphic displays for better visibility, a jog dial for easier data input and ergonomic joysticks. The MLC650 is designed to be transported globally with optimized component weights and dimensions including a removable live mast shipping module and boom inserts designed to allow luffing jib inserts to ship within the boom inserts for cost effective transport.
