Grove GMK5180-1 Crane Overview and Specifications

The Grove GMK5180‑1 is an all-terrain crane with a maximum lift capacity of 210 tons. It has a maximum boom length of 210 feet and a maximum jib length of 59 feet.

The boom of the GMK5180‑1 is a six section single cylinder boom with a TWIN-LOCK system. The TWIN-LOCK system ensures that locks can hold in situations with extreme vibration or dynamic loads, making it the perfect system for a crane on the jobsite. The four beam outriggers come standard with an electronic level indicator and automatic leveling system to allow for safe and efficient lifting.

Powering the GMK5180‑1 is a Tier IV compliant Mercedes Benz OM471LA, diesel, 6 cylinder, water cooled, turbo charged, 532 horsepower powerhouse. Easily able to complete any job, the engine is a perfect fit for the GMK518‑1. The Transmission system, a G280 also made by Mercedes, has 16 forward and 2 reverse gears with VIAB turbo retarder coupling. The standard VIAB takes up less weight and space than a turbo coupling and a retarder would separately, giving more room for other features. The VIAB enables wear-free starting and breaking, reduces fuel consumption, and stops overheating. By reducing fuel consumption, the VIAB saves money on fuel and time fueling.

The counterweight slabs and self-rigging auxiliary hoist of the GMK5180‑1 allow for less time wasted on the jobsite. The crane can be moved while carrying its full 50 ton counterweight, saving the time of installing and removing counterweight. The self-rigging auxiliary hoist ends the need for an assist crane on the job site, saving time and money.
