Grove GMK5165-2 Crane Overview and Specifications
The Grove GMK5165‑2 is an all-terrain crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 165 tons. It has a maximum jib length of 197 feet and a maximum boom length of 59 feet.
The GMK5165‑2 is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA eight cylinder, water cooled, turbo charged engine. The engine has the power to complete any job thrown at it. The Daimler Chrysler 16 speed transmission system with a two stage transfer case gives the operator the control needed to prevent safety hazards, and efficiently travel through a jobsite.
The suspension system was designed by MEGATRAK. This hydro-pneumatic system acts on all wheels and keeps them on the ground. By keeping each tire on the ground, the MEGATRAK system keeps the weight distributed evenly between axles without constant shifting. Both of these features keep the GMK5165‑2 out of the shop and on the jobsite longer.
The six sectioned, full powered MEGAFORM boom is best in class. The TWIN-LOCK boom pinning system used automatically pin the sections in position when they are extended, limiting safety hazards and saving time and money. The GMK5165‑2 features CraneSTAR, a system used to remotely monitor crane data. This data is distributed to the operator who can in turn take steps to increase safety and efficiency, and therefor profitability of the job. The EKS and ECOS systems work together to inform the operator of the current state of the crane, and to complete lifts and other operations with ease.
